Happy Birthday, NYSIR!

Vision is what leads any business to lasting success, and 2009 is the perfect year to note that NYSIR’s has been 20/20.

The New York Schools Insurance Reciprocal celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, a milestone marked by what executive director Joseph Goncalves says has been the company’s continuing commitment to operational excellence.

“Twenty years ago we pointed to financial stability as one of the goals of the reciprocal,” he observes, “and a steady stream of “A” ratings from industry analyst A.M. Best stands as testament to the achievement of that goal. Other companies have come and gone from the school marketplace, but NYSIR remains steadfast, and we owe that to the commitment of our subscribers.”

“Who knows schools better than those who administer them?” asks reciprocal president Kimberly Bucci, reminding that NYSIR is owned and governed by school districts across New York. “The best present I can think of is to be able to report that NYSIR is not only protecting its member schools, but is managing to do it in a way that has delivered long-term financial stability.”

“Two decades ago we set out to build a company that would restore coverages eroded by the industry, fight frivolous claims, build a strong risk and claims management program and stabilize premiums,” say Goncalves. “With the commitment and leadership of our subscribers, we did just that. Now let’s wish ourselves a much-deserved ‘Happy Anniversary,’ and get ready for another 20 years of success and financial strength.”
