Ad-ed Value
If students in one enterprising Idaho high school get hungry during a history exam, they know exactly what to do. Just call the number in the pizza ad on their test papers.
The AP reports that when the Pocatello School District faced a $10 million bite out of its annual budget, a local pizzeria agreed to give the high school history and economics teacher enough free worksheet, handout and test paper to last through the 2009-2010 school year. But the deal came with a special topping: a bright red advertisement declaring MOLTO’S PIZZA 14” JUST $5. At first the principal thought the idea was, well… a little cheesy, but bought into it when the educator artfully explained the arrangement would make for a suitably teachable moment about the effects of economic hard times.
Pie chart, anyone?
